Art is how you feel, who you are, and comes from the soul. - Marla Allison

BIO

I am a contemporary/abstract artist, I have been painting since 1994 and learned oil painting from the brilliant teachings of Mr. Lawrence Sinnott. He taught me the basics of landscapes in oil painting and introduced modern art of pop culture and showed how television has a role in modern day design. Later, I found inspiration in various art styles by works of Picasso, M.C. Escher, Diego Riviera, Jean Michel Basquait, and Andy Warhol.

After finding the need of expression through painting on canvas in my youth, I went on to study in Santa Fe, NM at the Institute of American Indian Arts graduating with an Associates Degree in three-dimensional art. While there, I was enamored with all types of various art forms and ways of studying them. Learning figure drawing with Charlotte Teters to poetry with Arthur Sze and ceramics with Karita Coffey, I absorbed everything I could within two years and since have been finding my own path of inspiration.

I live in Laguna, NM and find comfort in the silence of old dirt roads that lead to nowhere. Although the convenience of being so close to Albuquerque is a major welcome to modern day commodities and art materials..
